Vodacom has now embarked on a new strategy to prevent its clients from leaving (basically *********). Since the beginning of June, we have been trying and struggling to port a Vodacom number so we can go to Capitec as one actually gets prompt and efficient service there. When the contract finished, we did not renew the contract as we were still thinking about what to do with the number. Vodacom offered a month-to-month WhatsApp of R25 odd to keep the number active. We accepted that until we knew what we were going to do. Then we discovered Capitec and thus start the nightmare with Vodacom. We cancelled everything and received sms indicating that everything is cancelled and the number will be released by 15 June. Come 15 June I phoned Vodacom and was told that the number was ported but the problem lies with Capitec (lie number 1). Capitec confirmed that Vodacom is still holding onto the number refusing to port it. We went into the branch, who confirmed everything was cancelled and we had to wait till the end of June for the port to occur (lie number 2). On 3 July now we are told that 1, the WhatsApp was cancelled and the invoice for July shows 0 (Lie number 3). On the Vodacom app, you can clearly see that WhatsApp was loaded for July and that Vodacom refuses point-blank to release the number. We are informed that it still runs as a 'contract' meaning that Vodacom is not going to release that number, they refuse and when you phone the call centre to find out why the number just rings. This is clearly showing that Vodacom is now losing so many clients that they now resort to ********* to hold clients, you want to keep your number you stay with Vodacom else you lose your number, sorry for you the client that dares to leave Vodacom.
