Bad systems, stock management and poor customer service

Black Friday Sale watches - on 27 November 2020, I bought two of the Polaroid Android watches on the black Friday Specials - the reference numbers were UUX019801BF (cell number ***) and STGQ49247BF (cell number ***). I received messages that delivery time is between 5 and 7 working days. I received the one very quickly - within 3 days - but have still not received the other one. When calling the general call centre (135) they put me through to "the correct division - however, I was informed that the watches are out of stock and they "may" order again in January. They also offered me a refund - I informed them that I do not want a refund but the item that I ordered.

A previous complain about Vodacom was resolved after 4 weeks where one of my numbers were not working - I had to escalate this to ICASA and also reported it on Hellopeter. Now this story again?

A large company such as Vodacom should know how much stock they have for an item (for example, they had TV's and Laptops on the same Black Friday Sale and after a few hours these TV's were not available) - so they should know how much stock they have. As far as I know, if a company makes an offer and you accept it through payment, a binding contract is in place and Vodacom should have delivered within 5-7 working days, as promised via SMS.

Must consumers always approach ICASA or Hellopeter or the Consumer Commission to get queries resolved? I am very disappointed by Vodacom again - and I was one of their first customers when Vodacom was established.

(I must give the call centre credit - they tried to call back but I could not reach the specific consultant - positive that the lady tried (I therefore give a 2 rating and not a 1 star).

Regards.
