bad service with regards to broken phone

i did a upgrade on a contract. the phone i received was a sony xperia aqua. the contract was upgraded on the 20.08.15 when i got home we discovered that the camera was not working. i took the phone back on the 22.08.15 and they refused to replace the phone. i was told that the phone had to be sent away to be checked. i think that that is total nonsense. i purchased a new phone and i expected a new phone in perfect working order. i should have been given a new phone on the spot. if you go to any shop and you have a problem with your good purchased you are either refunded or given a new item. i am disgusted in Vodacoms service and one my contracts are up i will never be renewing them and i will not recommend vodacom to anybody.
