Bad Service from Vodacom yet again

My phone has been blocked for six days now. Not as a result of any irresponsible actions on my part - but as a result of not one of the Vodacom Call Centre agents or Vodacom Northgate staff doing their jobs correctly.

During the month of July I went to Vodacom Northgate and took a third contract out for my younger son. While I was there I explained to the salesman that my e-mail address had changed and that my credit card was about to expire. Due to the fact that I had not received my new credit card as yet, I requested that he change my debit order to my cheque account.

Later it became evident that the salesman did not add my sons contract to my account, but had initiated a brand new account. The new account had all the changes on it, but my original account remained unchanged. (Mistake 1)

About a month later I got an sms to say that my account was in arrears. So I phoned the call centre for more details. It was at this point that we uncovered the fact that the salesman had made a mistake and that my account still reflected my expired credit card details. So having received my new credit card at this stage, I gave my new credit card details to the call centre agent. A few hours later I received a call to say that Vodacom wanted to confirm that I was happy for them to debit my account on #@&$$ day - and I said go ahead. (Mistake 2)

On Wednesday morning I tried to make an urgent call to my domestic worker - only to find out that my phone had been blocked due to no payment. I called the call centre twice and both times the automated agent said they would call me back. On Thursday after still no call backs I phoned the call centre to complain. This time the phone was put down on me two times in a row.

When I finally got hold of an agent, I was told that she is so sorry for the inconvenience and that they did have the correct details on the system, but it was loaded as a self payment not a debit order. The next debit order run was going to be the 28th of September, and that my phone would be unblocked after the debit order run. This was not acceptable. Not my mistake – but my problem. (Still waiting for somebody to call me back after escalation.)

On Friday still nothing. So on Saturday morning I went into Vodacom Northgate. Now they wanted me to pay the arrears and a month in advance before they could unblock both my phone and my sons phone. At this point I was too angry to argue. So I made the payment and was assured by the Saleslady that my account would be unblocked within 2 to 4 hours. Today is Monday night. Complained another two times. A lot poorer – still no working cell phones.

Mr CEO, would you be happy with this kind of service?
