Bad service from Vodacom Shop Somerset Mall
So, my friend Marcel went to Vodacom Shop in Somerset Mall on Monday 1 October 2018 to renew his contract as he needed a new phone because his old phone broke. Keep in mind that he has been a Vodacom customer almost as long as they sell cellphones.
He was offered a new contract and at a set price per month he gets a LG G7. They are running a promotion on that deal, so he will also get a LG K9 for free. They didn't have the phones in store and told him that they will have it in two days (Wednesday).
So, we went to the shop on Wednesday and was told that there was a delay and that it will arrive on Thursday. It didn't. Keep in mind that his phone broke the previous weekend, so the ease of only upgrading with the same service provider in order to get a handset asap was part of the decision. They called him this morning and we went to collect it.
The helpful and friendly lady collected both phones from the back and had them as well as the new contract on the desk. After a few minutes she told us that he won't be getting the K9 for free anymore, the promotion ended yesterday. Well at first we thought that she was joking and after we didn't find Leon Schuster or any of his camera's, we asked to see the manager.
Enter Jaco.
Vodacom, you made a mistake. I'm sure his arrogant, unwillingness to help isn't what you had in mind when you employed him. His answer to the problem was "Sorry Sir, do you have a signed quotation dated before yesterday to prove the deal".
We told him that this is what was offered to him on Monday and that they were asked to proceed.
Don't worry Vodacom, he had a good answer for that as well: "It clearly states that it is while stocks last". We pointed out the fact that he was holding "the stock" in his hands.
At least Jaco got smarter as the conversation went on, because he then said that he can "submit a request to reactivate the deal. This usually takes about 4 days or so and I can't promise that it would happen. Remember that you can't get the LG G7 either then, you would have to wait until we get a response." Marcel needed the phone and couldn't wait on further incompetence from Jaco or Vodacom.
So Vodacom, well done in delaying the delivery of the handsets in order to create a loophole not to honour a deal.
Jaco, you should work for an insurance company.
