Bad service/ experience from Vodacom Insurance
I recently had a bad experience with Vodacom insurance and would like to warn customer about one of their terms. One of my phones fell and was damaged. I went to the Vodacom store in where i took out the contracts and insurance . They advise me that i need to take the phone to a Vodacom repair shop. I went to Vodaworld as i had a previous phone repaired there before , but was told that they not doing repairs anymore and that i need to go to Mall of Africa. As nobody could not help me there i went to Menlyn Vodacom repair shop and handed in my phone. The same day they send me a message that it would cost R15,588.37 to repair the phone . I call them the next day and ask why i have to pay for as i have insurance. There explanation was that my sim card was not in the phone for more than 45 days. I told them that i took the phone to Vodacom The Grove and from there i was send to two other places . It unfortunately took some time as it was not possible to do it within 45 days as i have my own business and just could not waisted time to drive around looking for a place to help me. In the meantime i used one of my daughters spare phones and put my sim in the phone. After they refused to cover me for damage i call them and cancel my insurance on both my phones. The call me 3 times to ask me why i cancelled the insurance and every time i told them why i have done it. I felt that it is unfair to take money from me every month for nearly two years as i they knew that i was not insured after i took out my sim for 45 days. I will never take out any insurance from vodacom again and is also considering to stop all my contracts (2 x data & 2 x phones)as soon as it is finished.
