Bad service cancellation of contract with Vodacom

I have 2 data contracts for tablets which expired in 2015. After 2015 the contracts were still paid by debit order on a month to month basis as per the contract, which suited me. I decided to upgrade and consolidate my contracts for a cheaper option, and I was advised by my local Vodacom shop to phone ********** , as they were not allowed to administer cancellations as Vodacom decided to get a call centre for all contract cancellations. This is where the problem started. I phoned the number and was put from one consultant to the other, so after 20 minutes on the phone and after speaking to 4 consultants I was cut off.

I believe that the consultants get a negative rating if they do a cancellation and therefore are not willing to help. At one stage a consultant explained to me that he wants to put me through to a specific consultant who would assist me, needless to say that consultant forwarded my call again.

So after spending a lot of time on the phone I went to my local Vodashop who assisted me. Vodacom is quick to help you contract with them, but frustrate the consumer to cancel a contract. It makes me wonder how many consumers decide to rather keep the existing contract and save the time and effort.

I am not a happy customer and believe that the good service the local Vodashops can give is being haltered by this service, which is clearly not in the best interest of the customers. I further believe that this procedure and the lack of help from this service is in contradiction with the consumer protection act, and I feel discriminated against as the service as a potential customer is excellent while as a departing customer the service is lacking and poor.
