Bad Service
Dear Vodacom Customer Service,
I'm writing to express my disappointment with the service I've received regarding the cancellation of my account. Despite paying for the cancellation on November 26, 2025, I'm still receiving notifications stating that I owe Vodacom.
I've taken the following steps: - Requested a cancellation quote on November 20, 2025 - Paid for the cancellation on November 26, 2025 - Expected my contract to be cancelled
However, the issue persists. I'm requesting: - Confirmation of the cancellation - A cancellation letter - Resolution of the outstanding balance issue
I've been a loyal customer, and I'm unhappy with the current situation. I'd appreciate a prompt response.
Thank you for addressing this matter.
In November 2025, I settled my Vodacom account in full using a Vodacom payment platform. I was subsequently informed that although the payment reflected on my account, the account could not be closed immediately due to the use of an incorrect payment platform. Despite this, the balance showed as settled.
Concerned, I escalated the matter via Twitter and HelloPeter, after which a Vodacom representative contacted me directly and assured me that:
• My account would be closed
• I should rest assured that the matter was resolved
Based on this explicit assurance, I reasonably believed the account to be closed.
Approximately two months later, I was contacted by a third party via my bank and informed that I allegedly owed Vodacom an amount of R82. This was the first time I became aware of any outstanding balance. I was never notified by Vodacom via email, SMS, or telephone of:
• Any remaining balance
• Any risk of handover
• Any intention to list me with the credit bureau
I immediately contacted Vodacom, only to be informed that my account had already been handed over to their legal department. Upon contacting Vodacom Legal, I was told the handover was due to the alleged R82 outstanding balance.
This raises serious concerns:
How was my account handed over after I had settled the account and received written assurance that it was closed?
Why was there no communication whatsoever regarding the R82 before legal action?
How is it acceptable that Vodacom admits to no communication, yet proceeds to update the credit bureau?
Why was I denied the opportunity to resolve this alleged amount before legal escalation?
Vodacom has acknowledged that no communication was sent to me regarding the R82, yet my credit profile has been negatively impacted. This is grossly unfair, procedurally flawed, and contrary to the principles of responsible credit management and consumer protection.
I wish to stress that this complaint is not about the amount of R82, but about:
• Vodacom’s failure to communicate
• False assurances provided by Vodacom representatives
• ******** and premature legal handover
• Damage caused to my credit bureau record
I am therefore requesting:
Immediate removal of any adverse credit bureau listings related to this matter
Written confirmation that my Vodacom account is closed and fully settled
A full investigation into Vodacom’s handling of my account
Written feedback on corrective steps taken to prevent similar occurrences
Should this matter not be resolved satisfactorily, I will pursue it further through the NCC, ICASA, and any other applicable regulatory bodies.
I trust this complaint will be treated with the seriousness it deserves
