Bad service at Vodacom Clearwater Mall

Good evening, i am hoping someone senior at Vodacom will be able to assist me with the appalling service i received from the Vodacom shop in Clearwater mall. I went to the Vodacom shop on Sunday 29th of Jan17 with the new modem i had purchased from Vodaworld in Midrand. Upon my arrival at the store, a consultant by the name Palesa approached me and asked if i needed help, i explain to the lady that i just recently bought a modem nd sim card which i needed to get a number for and i also needed her to insert the sim card in the new modem because i didnt know how it was done. She helped me get the number for the sim and she managed to insert the sim in the new modem that i had brought with me to the store, i then went on to loading data on the modem and left the store. I was told that it will take 24 hours for the modem to be activated.

On Monday when i tried to work using the modem i kept on getting an error message that it its not reading the sim, i called the customer care line and the gentlemen suggested that i go back to the store and find out what could be the problem. I decided to give it a day and tried using the modem again on Tuesday and got the same error message that it cant read the sim card. I decided to go back to Vodacom Clearwater and spoke to another sales consultant as i was told that Palesa was not on duty that day, i explained my situation to him. The gentleman found it odd that i was receiving an error mesage he opened the modem and tried to take out the sim card which was stuck inside, the guy struggled for a while and he explained that it looks like the sim card was stuck to something inside the modem and he went on to explain that the sim card was not inserted correctly and that is why he was struggling to pull it out. He tried several times and failed on all his attempts. He then referred me to another Vodacom store at Clearwater as he explained that i needed a technician to pull the sim card out of the modem, i went and to the other store and the lady that assisted me there told me there was nothing that they can do and i was sent back to the first shop i went to initially. The situation was becoming very frustrating as i felt as if nobody knew what the problem was or that none of them had the guts to tell me that Palesa who is a sales consultant at Vodacom had messed up by not putting the sim card correctly in the modem.

When i went back the second time around i asked to speak to the manager and got told that he had already knocked off and luckily the assistant manager was still on duty. I asked if i can see the assistan manager and explained my story to him, he also tried to remove the sim card from the modem failed dismally and tried several times, the sim eventually broke but came out and afterwards the guy explained that Vodaworld sold me a damaged modem and that i needed to go back to them as there was nothing that they could do for me. I explained to the assistant manager that the modem was still brand new and i have never used it before so how was that possible, he went on to tell me that the pins inside the modem are broken, it just seemed like no one wanted to take accountability for damaging my modem. He then went to some room at the back of the store and brought back a new sim card for me but not a new modem as they had damaged mine.

I decided to go back to go back to Vodaworld on Wednesday to check if the modem they sold to me was indeed brand new. The sales guy that had assisted me initally when i bought the modem said it was new and he then contacted Vodacom Clearwater to explain to them that they broke the modem when trying to pull out the sim card. The guy was sent from pillar to post, he eventually asked to speak to a manager by the name of Devan, again no one was willing to assist as he was told that Devan was not available. We tried calling again after a while with the Vodaworld consultant but was left hanging. We left several messages for Devan to contact Vodaworld or myself but he never did. All i need from Vodacom is a new modem as i cannot do anything, i can not work from home without it. Vodacom Clearwater damaged my modem and they need to relace it with a new one!!!!!

I have been a loyal Vodacom Customer for 10 years and i am very dissapointed to have experienced such appauling service as the one i had experienced on Monday and Wednesday. I need the sales consultants at Vodacom to take accountability for what they have done and replace my modem with a new one as the modem was new when i bought it at Vodaworld. If i donnot get feedback from Vodacom regarding this i will take this matter further.
