Bad experience with Vodacom after being a customer since about 1997;
I received additional promotional data costs to my account which I have not asked for. It is impossible to discuss the matter at the Vanderbijlpark where I took out the contract. They said you must phone the help line. The help line is playing music nonstop. Or it appear you get put through to an phone that rings forever. It is my experience that their system is geared to sell and sell only, and to block any attempt to resolve any account queries. It appear that any question on an account is ignored and the account is ‘transferred’ to their legal department. This to me was a shocking realization of this company’s modus operandi. All my e mail to Vodacom e mail address I could find on the internet and to their legal team went un-answered. Here are the facts; 1) I bought an I- phone on a 2 year contract form their Vanderbijlpark office on 14 January 2016. So the contract expire 14 January 2018. 2) I went to the Vodacom office in Vanderbijlpark who confirm that I have reached the end of the contract term. 3) On about the 1 February 2018 the number was transfer to my MTM contract. 4) During the last 3 months of my Vodacom contract I have tried to resolve the constant monthly adding of ‘Promotional data’ to my account to the amount of R 218.42. I have phoned Vodacom numerous times but the number remains engaged. It also seems that these Vodacom numbers are not reachable by landlines. When you phone with your cell phone you have to listen to music and advertising while Vodacom runs down your personal time and minutes available on your phone. I went to the Vodacom office at Vanderbijlpark who refer me back to the call centers. 5) I have not paid my last Vodacom account because my accounts for the last months was incorrect. I was overcharged because Vodacom added at their leisure amounts mentioned in this letter. 6) My e mail; *** is dysfunctional because I cannot send any mail from my phone for some reason. 7) Last month I became aware that Vodacom still sending accounts. 8) I phoned AGAIN and managed to speak to ‘Aswin’ who work with the contacts. He then inform me that ‘no my contract is still running and that it is for 3 years’ How is still possible? Other than a willful misleading attempt to drill more money out of a person? 9) I said to ‘Aswin’ the last accounts from Vodacom was wrong. He said well that is a different department I must phone 082 111 – It is the number for promo dispute. I have phoned this number and messages press this for that and this number for that. I was not able to get to any message leading me to promo dispute or an operator. So I am AGAIN stuck to resolve the matter. In the meantime Vodacom dishing out accounts. 10) The Vodacom system is in my opinion set up in a way to make it impossible to resolve matters. The local branch do not want to hear about resolving matters they are into selling only. 11) I am staying in Sasolburg and will drive to your office in Johannesburg to sort out this matter but I am afraid it will go the same way as the calls – came to nothing. 12) I have also received a call from someone who said no I must send the complaint to; ***. So I am not sure who must receive this complaint?? 13) All e mails went un answered and I am getting threatening sms’s and phone calls from presumably vodacom’s BEE legal company.
I have approached the ‘Consumer Goods & service Ombudsman’ but their procedure is that I first need proved that Vodacom is not able to resolve the matter but Vodacom respond to nothing!
