Bad experience with Craighall Vodashop

My contract with Cell C came to an end in June and I made the necessary arrangements to release my number so that I can move it over to Vodacom. I dealt with the Craighall Park branch to complete the import and open a new contract. From here it was problem after problem after problem.

The import had to be done more than once as it did not read on the system. Once completed I was moved to prepaid. My intention was to open a Smart Small Top Up contract. On Saturday, 30 July, I went to complete all the necessary paperwork to open my contract. Upon arrival the consultant indicated that he had forgotten to fetch my phone from Hyde Park. I indicated that I would go pick it up. I completed all the necessary forms (or so I thought) and clearly indicated that I wanted the contract to be on Top Up.

I then collected the phone (iPhone 6S Plus) from Hyde Park and while there took out insurance on the phone (this was not offered to me at this point from the previous consultant).

Please note that I am still on prepaid and my contract has not yet been activated.

On the Monday, I get a call stating that I need to come in to the Craighall Park branch as no forms were signed. I obliged and went in to sign the forms. I again stated, and signed, that I wanted the contract to be a Top Up contract and not an open contract.

Over a few days (possibly more than a week) the contract was activated but it was activated as an open contract!

I then went in to complain as I clearly stated that I wanted, and signed, a Top Up contract. They then started the process to complete this. While this was happening my contract got suspended as I asked for a limit to be put on it so that I do not overspend. I then had to fork out for data bundles and minutes until my contract could be rectified. This I could only do through the branch.

Please also note that this is now the middle of August and I have still not been debited for the contract.

Eventually they send various requests to redo my contract and claim that it will be converted to the Top Up contract I had initially asked and signed for. Still not debited.

I then spoke to the consultant about payment and she stated that my account will be debited two days after activiation. I then asked to please activate the account on the 25th of August so that I can ensure I have sufficient funds in my account (payday!).

The contract was activated on the 26th of August however not all the data has been reimbursed. This is apparently happening at the beginning of next month. My LTE/4G was no longer activated as well as caller ID.

I have now had to call in to the customer service centre to activate it incurring more costs. Please note my account has still not beed debited!

I am EXTREMELY unsatisfied by South Africa's "best" network. Due to incompetence from the staff at Craighall Park, I am expecting my phone bill to be extremely high for last month. Still waiting for the debit to happen as well! Although they accepted responsibility for their actions (which took a lot of time and unnecessaary arguing), I am still the one who is affected by these costs and lack of service. Not once was free airtime or minutes offered to me so that I can have a usable phone, I had to fork out all the costs myself. Now I have to pay extra to have my LTE and Caller ID reactivated because of the mistake they made. This is beyond bad customer service and I am regretting my decision to move to Vodacom. These costs should not be for my account but rather for that of Vodacom's as a means of rectifying this shocking situation.
