Backorder- Vodacom's version of purgatory
So after four years of using my Samsung Galaxy S7 I decided to upgrade to the Huawei P30 Pro. The current service provider I am with (lets call them "X") told me that they no longer stocked this model, which turned out to be untrue as today I saw an adverti*****t for it. Anyway, I came across a deal from Vodacom which offered 2g data a month plus minutes and sms for R1129 pm for 24 months. Which was great and as a bonus the deal came with the new Huawei GT 2 smar****ch. So I cancelled my current data contract with X and then proceeded to open a new contract with Vodacom. Excitedly I picked out the colour and chose the elegant style and 46mm model of the smar****ch. I was then told that I would get the device in 3-5 business days. This is then where things went downhill...
I started the contract on the 31st of January 2020. Upon calling the Vodacom shop the following week (05/02/2020), as I got no contact from them, I was told that the watch had arrived but the device was on a backorder and that they would phone me the next day. They didn't but insisted that they did when I eventually phoned them. Long story short I got told the same thing and nobody could give me a date as to when I could expect the device which was frustrating. I phoned on the 10th, the 14th and again on the 17th and I got the same response. I even went in on the 13th and was told that hopefully they would know by the 17th of February and, no surprise here, they didn't have device or know what was going on.
My data contract with X terminates on the 23/02/2020 and I'm no closer to knowing when I will get this device. I would be willing to wait if I could just get a solid timeline as to how long I would be waiting. At this point I'm really irritated that nobody knows what's going on. So much so I'm considering cancelling this contract and looking elsewhere.
