Applying for the Vodacom Online promotion was the biggest mistake ever
Vodacom Online - never again! I opted for the Galaxy S9 promotional offer on Vodacom's website. Big mistake. First of all, does Vodacom Online and Vodacom even talk to each other sometimes, it seems like they are two completely different companies that know nothing about each other. So I registered online, received a phone call 1 March about this, and asked to be phoned back on 7 March when the monthly deals are announced. Never received a call back, but didn't really expect this. I eventually phoned them (PS - getting the correct number to phone is also a few minutes of your time getting bounced back and forth between call centers). But I thought since I never used them, I would just need to figure out the number once. After about two weeks I received my phone in the mail. Pleasant. The Vodacom Online gives two seperate offers - a wireless charger and earphones and a R500 voucher - also an additional 1 GB per month for 24 month on top of the standard contract MBs. The wireless charger and earphones you get when you add your details in the Samsung Rewards app, also pretty easy. The R500 voucher is impossible to redeem. I have been to 3 Vodacom shops, 2 Samsung shops, phone Online numerous times and tried pretty much everything. Nobody knows how to redeem this voucher. The assistants in the shops have no clue about this promotion and tells me to go to Samsung, Samsung also has no idea and tells me to go to Vodacom, the Online people say I can go to either... I have found one shop in Menlyn Maine that knows 'about' this offer, but I have been there three times (once to find out, once when I didn't have the phone box and once with everything I can possibly take along) - but their system cannot redeem the voucher/IMEI combination. So I have pretty much given up on the R500 voucher. Finally, they didn't load my promotional 1 GB per month for 24 months or the promotional 10 GB once-off in the new month (April). I was on the phone this morning for 45 minutes, getting bounced between call centers ( ********** , ********** , ********** 4, 135) and not one person was really able to help me find out how to get my 1 GB. Obviously, I cannot go to any Vodashop either, they will immediately tell me there is nothing they can do. So now I am stuck, waiting for the person that did my upgrade in the Online facility - which off course is not possible to contact directly - well I am waiting for her to phone me - which according to the person that escalated my call - can take 24 hours, but I must phone back if I don't receive any feedback by 5 business days. So essentially I am now just waiting (again) for a miracle so that I can get my 1 GB per month, but I can't physically do anything (hence my never again through Online)! In summary, I don't get why Vodacom Online is so pathetic? And now, getting any form of assistance is dependent on people that are impossible to contact and call centers that also have no clue how to address such issues. My hands are tied and I am relying on incompetence to sort this issue out, not much hope for it also.
