Appalling service - Train your staff

I have been a Vodacom contract customer for the past 15 years and I am really disgusted with the service I recently received. I took out a contract at a Vodacom store on the 29/04/2019. I unfortunately heard that the company I am employed at was undergoing some restructures on the 30/04/2019. I tried contacting the store to cancel the contract(the phone was not utilised at all - sim card not registered at that point). My attempts to contact the sales person and the store directly was in vain. On the 01 May 2019 I called Vodacom directly and they requested the number in question( I cannot fathom why they were not able to pick my details up, as I had two other contracts with them at the time). I then inserted the sim card to retrieve the number only to be told that they cannot assist and that I'd needed to query the cancellation directly with the store I purchased from. I called in at the store the next day only to be told that they were a franchise and not a Vodacom direct. As a customer I expect a franchise to operate under the brand Vodacom and therefore honor the cancellation. I was then told that they cannot accept the refund as the phone was on for all of 60 seconds(sixty seconds) on the 01 May 2019 (This I did under the Vodacom agents instruction). I now sit with a contract that I may not be able to fund given my employment situation. I was well within the 7 day cooling off period, and at no point did the sales person state anything around returns made in store.
