appalling service from Vodacom South Africa.

If I had the option to give this company zero stars I would do so.

My headache started when i took my hisense f22 handset in for repairs at the Vodacom shop Zewenwaght Western Cape. The problem on the handset was that on Friday 18 2019 the phone started overheating(after only 30 minutes of use) and the top part of the headset and the screen got blurred right after that leaving a black spot on the left part of the screen. I took the phone in on Saturday 19 February 2019 to the Zewenwaght store whereby I was assisted by a very unprofessional gentleman. He was on his cellphone the wholetime busy with his private stuff whilst assisting us. I told him the problem I was facing whereby he told me to fill in both what was wrong with the headset and what I expected to be fixed. So I told him to do it himself and he abruptly did so. I then asked to speak to his manager and report him as he went on to fill in the part of the report stating that the client understands all terms and conditions without reading or explaining these to me. He than went on to trying to take off my screen gaurd which I had with the phone saying that it was an LCD probably and the technician at the repair center will eventually have to do it. But i told him that he is not a qualified technician and he cannot just take off accessories on my phone and that they must do it at the tygervally repair centre. I then spoke to the manager of the zewenwaght store whome explained everything and that the person helping is was still unexperienced ect. After this the manager assisted us accordingly and an acceptable level of service was provided.

On the 22 of February 2019 I received a notification stating that the qoute on the repair of my handset under the repair job number ********** 1 would be R1 304.48. I then phoned the tygervally repair centre to ask what the problem on the phone was. A lady said that it was the LCD that was cracked. I then asked how this could have happended as I had a screen gaurd protecting the phone. The lady then said that there is various reasons why it could crack but the explained to me that the LCD id beneath the screen and the crack is not visible to the naked eye and that the technician spoted this crack and subsequently voided my warranty. I was then forced to decline the qoute and have the handset sent back to zewenwaght as I do not have the funds to pay for the repair.

I then phoned in again and this time asked to speak to the manager ****hka at the Tygervally repair centre. I asked her again why is theLCD cracked when there was a screen gaurd on the phone??? So she said to me there is various reasons why a LCD can crack. I then asked her why my phone overheated? So she could not give me an indication on why this was the case.

I have quite a few issues with the way the I am being treated as a customer:

1) why was it not stated to me why the phone overheated.

2) the device is only 7 months old and I now have to continue paying monthly contract of R299 and i cannot use my phone due to the LCD being cracked. The warranty is now also voided after only seven months and this is the 2'nd time I took the phone in for repairs in the seven month period.

3) why the screen LCD was cracked even though a screen gaurd was fitted by Vodacom and it came as part of the contract deal and was still fitted at time of the technician looking at my phone at the tygervally repair centre?

4) The only time vodacom seems to be interested in the welfare of their clients is when a new contract is on the table and the contract needs to be signed.

5) why is Vodacom so focused on voiding my warranty without looking at all the possible reasons why the screen cracked.

Lastly if Vodacom does not come back to me and support me accordingly and treat me as a client is supposed to be treated I will not upgrade my contract in future and lose a customer for life. I will also make it my mission to discourage people as upto this point the sevice was not good at all.

Reviewer Update
This is an update whereby I have received even worse service. I got contacted by a gentleman named Dean from Vodacom subsequent to my first complaint I lodged with hello peter. He then said that vodacom will see what they can do to assist me. I then had to book the phone in again at the Zewenwaght store for it to be sent back to the tygervally repair centre. I then just got a message on Tuesday 29 January stating that my refrence number has been closed down. I phoned in to the Vodacom head office for repairs whereby I spoke to Sibu Cele. She said that the tygervally repair centre said that their qoute for the repair of my phone stands. Sibu said that they will stand by their repair center never mind if it is at the expense of their clients. My question then was why ask me to send the phone back in the first place if you always will stand by your repair center. I then asked her if they said why the phone overhead prior to the screen resolution going bad? She said they can only focus on the fact that according to them it is physical damage. I then asked her why my phone had no cracks on the screen itself but the lcd was cracked. She than said they can only give me possible reasons why the LCD cracked. I than asked again why my phone overheated , and again I got no response. She than went on to tell me that the manager of the Tygervally repair centre can contact me and send me photos of the cracked LCD. Again Vodacom I as A client understand that the Lcd is cracked but I want to know why my phone overheated and why is there no cracks on my phone screens itself? , my human logic guides me to the fact that something had to happen from within the phone when overheating. All I am asking for again is for Vodacom to communicate these two facts with me and assist me in my quest to get answers as a paying customer I surely have that right?
