Appalling Service and Irate Customer
I have been a client of Vodacom for almost 18 years even before it took over Nashua Mobile . Background: I approached Vodacom 4 U Clearwater ( ********** ) for insurance claim on 8/3/2018. I was provided with LG Q6 and was advised that should there be problems with the device, I should return it within 7 days for OBF after which I will be issued with similar new phone. On 14/3/2018 I returned the phone as it was not charging and the screen was blank. This was within 6 days of purchase. To my dismay the manager (Bianca) advised that the device will have to be booked in and I cannot be issued with new phone as the consultant who assisted on 8/3/2018 didn't explain everything in detail. Further that they did not have loan phones in store. On 28/3/2018, received a call that the OBF has been rejected as the phone had scratches and the IMEI number was no longer visible at the back of the device and as such it should be booked in as normal repair. Despite my request for the store to consider provisions of CPA ,to foster a fair, accessible and efficient marketplace for Consumers, (reducing the difficulties vulnerable Consumers experience when accessing goods or services; protecting Consumers from unfair trade practices; encouraging responsible Consumer behaviour; advancing Consumer empowerment and providing an efficient system of redress for Consumers ),as the device was clearly defective and as customer I had the right to refund, my request fell on deaf ears. On 8/4/2018 I approached the store to enquire about the status of the repairs, the device was still with their repairs dept Alison Repairs at ********** , after which I was informed I could contact them. At this point I was then issued with a loan phone LG G4 Stylist ,which I later discovered was not compatible with my sim card. On 25/4/2018 received a call again that the device is back at the store but they cannot detect what the problem is and has to be resubmitted once more. (This was six weeks after the initial submission for repairs). On 3/5/2018, I approached the store once more for developments , device was still with repairs. On 7/5/2018,received the call that the repairs division has dispatched the device and it should be ready soon. Due to desperation, I called Vodacom call centre on 8/5/2018 and was provided with Vodacom Shop complaints dept contact ********** 001, which I called without success. On 14/5/2018, was informed by the store that the phone had LCD problems but it has been fixed. On 25/5/2018, I returned the loan phone and to collect the fixed device. Upon my arrival at the store, the phone had not been properly charged and had to wait for 2 hours to ensure that all the information is transferred from loan phone to my device, several challenges were encountered as the store doesn't have sufficient wi-fi etc. Ultimately I was provided withe the device, to my suprise when I got home and tried to charge the phone, the screen was blank and I had to return to the store. Both the manager Yegandri (who left the store earlier) and Regional Manager, Andrew (contacted telephonically) still refused to provide me with a new device despite the fact that I have been inconvenienced and had to incur costs of travelling to the store more than 7 times, out of 14 encounters I had with the store. From 3/2018, the regional manager was quite aware of the situation and blankly refused to intervene in the matter. Shockingly today, on my second visit in one day, he informed me that I should escalate the matter with the repair centre, honestly, I don't have any dealings with the repair centre but the store. Even worse, the store manager ackowledged in front of her staff that the customers have been complaining about the service at the store. I could not comprehend how can a manager admit to such appalling service and still not assist an irate customer. I am extremely disgusted with the service. let alone the costs of travelling to the shop, parking expenses, telephone costs and the inconvenience caused. I am of the view that my right to Fair and Honest Dealing, Right to Fair, Just and Reasonable Terms and Conditions , Right to Fair Value, Good Quality and Safety have trampled upon by the store and need urgent intervention.
