Appalling service

I decided to change from prepaid to contract, keeping the same number. I used their online channel to order the phone and apply forthe contract. The phone was delievered but I was using a micro sim and not a nanosim so I had to do a swim swop. I was informed it would take 2- 24 hrs. The swim swop was done at 16.30 on the Wednesday afternoon. By 20.30 the same night my old sim stopped working. After 24 hours the new sim was still not working. I called their call centre and they assured me the line was activated and it should start working soon. By Friday morning there was still no signal so I called. They then said everything on their side is fine and perhaps the sim is faulty and I should go buy a new sim. Not long after the phone call there suddenly seemed to be signal. I had another concern (I thought they may have linked my pre-existing data contract to this number) and also I was not able to connect to the internet. I spoke to a collague and switched the phone off and then back on again. There was again no signal so I called again. This time they said procedure had not been followed on their side and reassured me that it would soon be activated. In the meantime I received an sms asking if my query had been resolved to which I responded no. Another agent called me and after spending about 30-45 mins with him he said that because I was migrating from prepaid to contract it could take up to 31 days!? Why do a sim swop if you are going to be without a line for 31 days!? He said because it is the 31 March I should be lucky and the migration could happen at midnight. During the course of the 31 March the signal returned. However when I tried to connect to the internet it said that my sim was not activated for internet connection (who buys a smart phone and nanosim yet does not want to connect to the internet). I called the call centre again and spent an hour on the phone yet again (this was probably phone call number 7 or 8 since I had first app**** for the phone and contract). They tried various things and then asked me to switch off the phone and then switch it back again. Again I was left without signal. They then said they would log a fault.

Now being beyond frustrated with their call centre I decided to visit one of their shops. They told me that everything I had been told over the phone was nonsensical. They tested the sim car in one of their phones and their was connectivity and all was in order (contract activated etc). They determined that the phone was faulty and I was instructed to call Vodacom online to have the device collected.

On calling Vodacom online they said they would arrange to collect the device and then they would cancel the line and I would reapply. They are not able to simply replace the device. Since it is a new month I now am not able to get the same phone at the same deal.

Besides in the meantime I had been unreachable on my phone for 3 days, have spent at least 5 hours on the phone with Call Centre agents who tell me a different story each time. And I have also had to spend money on an adaptor since I cannot use the nanosim in my old phone. I am beyond frustrated.
