***** Alert: Vodacom Changed My Debit Account Without Notice or Permission
I have been a loyal Vodacom cellphone client since 2005 — twenty years. In 2025 I added a Vodacom Fibre account and a data contract, and specifically requested that all billing be debited from my business bank account.
What followed was months of frustration just to get Vodacom and Vodacom Fibre — two arms of the same company — to communicate with each other and honour this simple request. It was eventually achieved, my combined bill was correctly debited from my business account at month end.
Then in early May 2026 I received an SMS stating my account was in arrears. No debit had gone off my business account. I paid the outstanding amount directly on 11 May, only to discover that Vodacom had already debited my PERSONAL bank account on 4 May — an account I never authorised for this purpose.
I have since contacted *** repeatedly (over 5 times) and spoken to countless agents. The problems are clear: Vodacom has the wrong bank account number on file and has changed the debit date to the 7th of the month. When I raise this, I am told to contact Vodacom Fibre, who have the debit date as end of month. The two divisions still cannot align.
Most seriously: Vodacom unilaterally changed the debit source from my business account to my personal account — after more than a year of correctly debiting the business account — without notifying me and without obtaining my authorisation. Debiting a bank account without the account holder's permission is not an administrative error. It is *****.
I am requesting: 1. Immediate reimbur*****t of the duplicate payment 2. Written confirmation of the correct business account details and debit date 3. A formal explanation of why my personal account was debited without consent 4. Written confirmation of when and why the business account debit policy changed, and why I was never notified
Twenty years of loyalty deserves far better than this.
