Airtime depleted due to late data expiry SMS

I load 250MB data every 3 weeks and receive an SMS advising me on low data balance. I duly top-up to ensure I'm not using the ludicrous out of bundle rate charges.

I received an SMS at 11h44 this morning advising I have 4.14MB remaining, so I duly switched off 3G and topped up using USSD - a minute later I receive a second SMS advising that my bundle had now expired. I then received the SMS confirmation that my new bundle had been activated - great.

Then at 11h48 I receive another SMS advising:
\You have been paying R2 per 1MB since 7am. Buy a daily or 30 day bundle from as little as 43c per MB. To buy dial *111*1002#.\"

This is almost 5 hours later!!!
My airtime is now almost depleted by out of bundle data charges - you sent the SMS extremely late or your network delayed the SMS - either way this is a Vodacom issue! How on earth does this happen and how will you rectify this
