After six days new Vodacom sim still inactive

I took out a contract with Vodacom last week Wednesday (23-09-2015). They were supposed to port my MTN pay as you go number to Vodacom and assured me that it wouldn't take longer than 24 hours. By Friday the 25th my number was still not active on the Vodacom network. When I phoned the shop they told me it was because Thursday was a public holiday and that my number would be active before the weekend. It wasn't. I went to the shop yesterday to find out why my sim was still inactive and was met with cold indifference from the sales consultants. At last the manager explained to me that Vodacom does not port numbers on public holidays or on weekends and that my number would definitely be active by today. It still isn't. To make things worse, they specify in their contract that I only have 7 days to see if there is a factory fault with the phone they gave me. How am I supposed to test the phone if I am not on a network?
I would greatly appreciate it if they could get my sim active as soon as possible and then extend my test period with another seven days. I truly hope they can sort this out and that their service will be better in the future.
Regards
Cilliers Marais
