Vodacom has for the 2nd consecutive month some mysterious charge called "Data Usage" on my account, yet I have 4 out of 5Gb data still available!
One of my 3x Vodacom contracts allows me 5Gb data usage per month during daytime, and 5Gb from midnight to 5AM. I have never exceeded these limits and have continued with the contract on a month to month basis after it expired 27 August 2016. On the last invoice sent on 9 May, I noticed an additional charge of R336-88 with the narration "Data Usage". Since I have never needed additional data (which I presumed it must have been for) I logged onto the Vodacom app to see if I could figure out what it could have been for, but to no avail. What I did notice searching for clues on the website was that I still had 4Gb (of the 5Gb bundle) available on the 9th of May, yet another R28-37 has been debited for the new month starting 1 May.
I then called the Vodacom Call Center to get clarity on the issue and Jabulile referred the request for credit to the "back office" to credit these amounts, and sent me a reference nr. On 10 May I received an email from Gaodi Lecogo from a "NO REPLY" Vodacom email address saying an amount of only R168-98 will be credited as "a once-off gesture of goodwill".
I have never exceeded my data limit and it didn't make sense how Vodacom would leave money on the table with "gestures of goodwill" (difference between R168-98 and R336-88 plus R28-37) since they were not even willing to send me an itemized billing to proof my data usage. So I made a 2nd call to the Call Center on 11 May and Porche reluctantly logged the problem again and sent me a new reference nr.
Since then absolutely no word from Vodacom, and I simply refuse to sit on the phone with their Call Center for yet another hour to follow up on the matter.
