Account declined

I went to Vodacom Greenstone this morning to transfer my current business phone to my name and I was declined. I was informed that this was due to an account was with Legal in 2008 - this account was paid off and closed in 2010. In 2011 I had a new contract with Vodacom and I paid it off and closed it in 2012 with no hustles. Now 7 years later I am unable to obtain a contact with Vodacom because of an account which was paid off and closed 7 years ago? But they had no problem approving me in 2010? I cannot believe how you treat a customer is over qualifying for your contracts. Please let me know by end of today if I will get the contract on my name or if I should go to Mtn which wont have any problem taking me on.
