I took out a new contract with Vodacom downgrading from a business contract to a lesser contract for private use only. The contract was due to start on 1 November 2016. But it seems the contract was never activated and I have had no luck getting it sorted. They continuously try to tell me that my data is being eaten up by background apps, but nothing is running. I cannot use the phone unless I am in a wifi area. So I am essentially paying for a phone which I cannot use.

When I visited the Vodacom shop in Blue Route in Tokai, Cape Town to get help, they told me I should buy more data to sort out the problem.

when you type *111# into the phone, it tells you my balance is nil. When we loaded R110 worth of airtime, it told me my balance was R538?????

and nobody can explain why that is. I have been into 3 Vodacom shops to try and sort out the problem. I have tried calling customer care, and have had no luck with anything. The only reason I haven't had a complete fit in the store is because I do have a work phone which I can use, so it isn't a complete train smash. However, the point is still that I am paying for a contract which I cannot use and nobody has been able to help me which I find completely ridiculous. I am really annoyed and have lost complete faith in Vodacom. I have asked them to cancel the contract and give me a new one, but because I have refused to pay for that, they have refused to do it. Absolutely no customer service at all. I am beyond fed up. If nobody repsonds to this, I will be going to Cape Talk and the newspaper consumer columnists.
