Absolutely shocking customer support for simple payment collection issue
It's unfortunate that one can't give 0 stars. In September, my wife received a payment due notice from Vodacom for a contract that was paid by a (now) expired card. She duly went and paid the amount at a Vodacom store and updated the card details telephonically. A few days later she received a notification from Vodacom that they had escalated her overdue amount for non payment, despite having just paid it at the store that week.
I don't want to document here just how many calls she has made, how often she's been passed from pillar to post, getting hung up on by the phone system, recalling, working with people who cannot simply acknowledge her payment, for which she has a receipt. As I type she's on a call that she's been on for half an hour, being put on hold, having to call back and just getting no assistance whatsoever to resolve a simple issue. It's also incredible to me that a *phone* company has such terrible quality support phone lines, seemingly untrained staff, inefficient payment collection services, the list goes on. I'm appalled.
Honestly Vodacom, I left you years ago for similarly terrible service and it seems nothing has changed. My wife is almost ready to do the same, to one of your competitors. Well done for *****ing defeat from the jaws of victory.
I must just give a shout out to one Vodacom support employee. I don't know her surname and hopefully I spell her first name correctly, but Portia from Vodacom Support was one shining light in the darkness even though she was unfortunately unable to get the Vodacom right hand to integrate with the Vodacom left hand, despite trying. She had actually called to say she was working to reconcile the payment made at the store to the main Vodacom system, about an hour before my wife's phone was unceremonially cut off. Thank you Portia for your excellent and caring service. You tried.
