Absolutely no joy.

first things first.

This past Saturday the 1st of April I excitedly went to my nearest vodacome store to upgrade my phone, on arrival I was met with helpful and friendly staff. I decided on a device and was informed that the device (iPhone 6 32g) was not yet in stock as the option of upgrade that I had chosen had only launched that day. I was however ensured that they would be receiving stock on Wednesday (4 April) and on that stipulation I entered into another 24month contract with Vodacom. So fast forward to today (Wednesday 4 April) I trade my old device in as it was still in good working condition and I then go into the vodacome outlet to collect my new device only to be told that there is a back log of 20+ iPhones and that I would have to wait 2-3 weeks for my device.

This is absolutely unacceptable as a term of the contract was delivery of the device by Wednesday, then when enquiering as to the cancellation procedure of the contract I was told I would be liable for 75% of the outstanding contract, thus Vodacom would be charging me 75% of my contract due to THEIR lack of service!

I am now stuck with out a device for 2-3 weeks, during which time I will be traveling overseas, I am also unable to cancel my contract with vodacom with out facing penalties, dispute the fact that they are in contravention of the consumer protection act!

secondly:

In November 2016 my 88 year old grandmother who suffers from demensia ( and thus has no legal capacity) was contacted by a vodacom representative telephonically, during this conversation my grandmother unknowingly ( as she did not understand , being 88) entered into a contract for a tablet which was delivered to her home.

When the device was delivered to their home my grandmother contacted my mother and myself for assistance as she did not know what the device was, where it came from or how to work it. Only after numerous phone calls, rude and unhelpful call center operators and multiple phone hang up ( from vodacom) did we figure out what had happened.

We then arranged for the device to be returned and the contract to be suspended. Fast forward EIGHT MONTHS and the stop order is still goin off on my grandmothers bank account regardless of the fact that the device has been returned and the contract being "suspended".

So again I go into a vodacom store with a legal document granting me permission to access my grandmothers account I was told that they cannot accept any legal documentation as a franchise and they cannot grant ,me access to my grand mothers account and that I should go to the head office at vodaworld.

So Again AGAIN I am inconvenienced by VODACOMS LACK of service, I must travel all the way to vodacom midrand at my own cost with a senile 88 year old woman because again they are in breach of the consumer protection act as THEY engaged in targeted marketing towards my grandmother which legally gives her 6 months to cancel the contract. Over and above that deductions are STILL being made out of her account for a device she no longer has! And as a pensioner she cannot afford these deductions and is now in financial distress, aggrivating Her dementia .
