A telecom provider that struggles to properly activate a SIM card.
I had no idea setting up SIM cards would be this challenging for a new customer.
I recently ported my numbers from MTN to Vodacom, but I’m starting to question if I made the right choice.
To provide some context, I’m a business contract subscriber with TWO numbers.
The process began before New Year, and now it’s the 19th of January, and it is still not resolved. While the line is technically active, I still haven’t received the SIM cards I requested.
One of my phones only supports eSIM, so I specifically asked for both numbers to be activated as eSIMs. Unfortunately, the QR codes provided don’t seem to work, and activation has been unsuccessful.
When I reached out, the service agent casually mentioned that Vodacom’s eSIM portal is down—as if that’s an acceptable response for a new customer who is already being billed.
The result? I’m paying for a line I can’t even use, and Vodacom doesn’t appear to be treating the issue with any urgency.
I had hoped for a smoother experience when porting my numbers, at least with the basics, but if even this can’t be handled properly, perhaps it’s time to consider porting back.
