A taste of incompetance peppered with theft.

After upgrading the phones of our household and changing some information Vodacom took it upon themselves to cancel a contract of ours. The contract was relatively new, not in arrears and one of many held with Vodacom. They apologised for the error in cancelling the contract but not before removing thousands of rands for a cancellation fee.

Thinking this could easily be resolved, I left it in the hands of Vodacom who promised my refund would appear within 48 hours. I waited a week and there was still no refund.

I have spent what seems like forever on calls with Vodacom, I have been in branch to attempt to rectify the issue and am now forced to take further action.
I have been forwarded to the telecommunications Ombudsman as the amount taken from my account comprises of funds used to put food on our table.

Vodacom has acknowledged their blunder, Why is it so difficult to keep to your word?
Had the roles been reversed would Vodacom accept not being paid money owed to them?
