A no-communication policy from a phone company

On Monday the 30th of January I tried to upgrade 2 cellphone contract I have with Vodacom. The website was of no use to me. Eventually I got hold of a person at the call centre (111) to assist. After a lengthy conversation, the transaction was concluded. I confirmed with the agent that the "Free delivery nxt day" still app****. I also informed her that I am in the office until 13:00 and that delivery must take place before that.

On Tuesday the 31st of January, no delivery took place before 13:00, and I left the office. I got a phone call at around 14:30 from work to say that the delivery person is there. No use to me, as I was at home already. I asked them to again inform the courier company that I leave at 13:00.

Lo and behold! The same scenario on Wednesday! Slightly ridiculous by this time. I struggled on the 111 line to get hold of a person on Thursday and called the head office in Midrand out of pure frustration. Eventually, after being transferred a number of times, I got to talk to someone who wanted to give me the courier company's phone number to sort the issue out with them. Having waited for a number of days already for my phones, I was in no mood to do that. She called the courier company and then called me back to say she spoke to them and that the phones will be here "first thing tomorrow morning.

I called Vodacom head office again ealier this morning, was transferred a couple of times, and was informed that I must talk to yet another department. By that time I was getting very close to loosing my cool completely, so I told the person I talked to that Vodacom can sort out this mess, and that I really want my phones by 10:00.

Well, this is now 'tomorrow morning", it is 10:37 which is not 'first thing' in South Africa, and I still do not have the phones.

Will I ever recommend Vodacom? No.

Are they serious about their clients? Clearly not.

Really Vodacom - a machine replies? I will be contacted in due course? "Due course" was on Tuesday already, not today!
