A Month of Consistently Poor Service - Vodashop Rondebosch

Since Monday, 27 June 2016 when I first entered the Vodashop in Rondebosch and first consulted with Mr Mark Cable on wanting to take out a contract with Vodacom, I have experienced not a single moment of satisfaction save for being told that my contract had been approved. First, they didn't have stock of the phone (an LG G4 on UChoose 200 with a leather cover case included for R299/month) the Vodashop booklet was advertising, which by itself was absolutely acceptable and understandable as any given Vodashop cannot reasonably be expected to have every phone in stock at all times. I was told that I would have to wait a week for stock to be delivered. After the week, I returned only to be informed that the phone was on back-order and it would take another week. Meanwhile, the 20% off the device insurance that was still on offer at the time I had app**** for the contract was no longer applying and that the extra contract I had also taken extra (for R50 per month on top of your primary contract, Vodacom was offering a Vodacom Smart Tab with 300Mb of data per month) had since gone up to R79 per month...I asked to cancel the extra Vodacom Tab contract since prices had gone up and this was done. I arrived back after yet another week to learn that the G4 had been discontinued and that I would have to choose a different phone. Which was a big disappointment, as the phone had a great camera which was the feature which most attracted me to this contract at that price in the beginning, so Mark compared other phones on offer under similar price plans with me on his computer and suggested the Sony Xperia XA (claiming it had similar features w.r.t. RAM (3GB) and camera (21.3 mega pixels) but a smaller on-board memory. He showed me the specs in comparison to the G4 and I jumped at the offer, but after going home and checking the phone out in more detail online I discovered that his specs had been mistaken (being for the as-yet unreleased Sony Xperia XA Ultra and not the XA). I called in the next morning to ask him to confirm the specs and he apologised for having supp**** me with the wrong information. So I once again selected a different phone; namely the Sony Xperia M5 Aqua currently on offer for R299/month on UChoose Flexi 150, but with the offer to extend to R200 monthly airtime for an additional R30/month. So he said it would be in by Wednesday last week...then Friday...then today (being Monday, 25 July 2016)...I went at 09:30 this morning and was told by Mark it had been dispatched as "Out for delivery from their Cape Town hub" and would be in by lunch time...I just came back from them now (being 14:27) and was just informed yet again that it was delayed and wouldn't be in today. To which I kindly asked for my paperwork back and for him to discontinue our transaction completely. I've never ever had this much trouble with getting a phone from any other Vodacom branch before. It has been delay after apology after excuse upon excuse and I have been nothing but patient and understanding the whole time (I didn't even raise my voice when asking to terminate the application process with him today) but I am upset that it has come to this, and I am still without a new phone! I feel this is terrible service, for me to be inconvenienced this badly for an entry-level contract (I'm really not pre-oredering the iPhone 8 here or being a demanding client) and get no satisfaction.

Reviewer Update

Update: Just after posting this I noticed an e-mail Mark had sent me just before I popped in there by him this afternoon - you won't believe this but between the time he told me it was out for delivery this very moment and 14:00 the M5 was ALSO discontinued! ! So while in transit the phone was...what?! Recalled?! Beamed up for discontinuation by Vodacom drones and dematerialized?! This is ludicrous! I demand intervention in this matter! Vodacom should not be allowed to advertise a product and then tell me it's been discontinued after I've already put my order in! They should either redesign their sytem so they can confirm this kind of thing beforehand or have a way to track and place on hold a device not sold at another branch to be re-distributed to the customer at the branch he's applying for it from!
