A gift you have to pay for?

I recently upgraded to a new Samsung S10. I opted for the cash up-front payment and had to pay more than R12000 for the device. Then Vodacom decided to give me a gift; a power bank and another phone???!!! Why would I want a second phone worth more than R5000. Couldn't they just give me R5000 discount on my cash contribution. But wait it gets better: I then noticed that Vodacom deducted R98 from my bank account. I phoned enquiries and was told that the payment was the connection fee for the second phone???!!! GREAT, so, first you give someone a gift which he can't really do anything with and then you charge him for the gift - PATHETIC!!! When I brought it to their attention they offered to take back the gift and repay the R98. Vodacom clearly suffers from big company rot - pity there is no one better to take one's business to.
