A 36 month contract became 42 months contract
For the normal Joe soap in the street 36 months from the 19/12/2018 will come to 19/12/2021 but it seems like the billing/ contract department at Vodacom cannot do this simple sum. Not sure if it is the lack of human knowledge, or software that was setup wrongfully, or if Vodacom has been doing this often to their clients.
For the past 13 years I have been a client with Vodacom with 7-9 contracts in my name. For the last 8 years since Vodacom went over to a new software system, the problems have not stopped. You can never walk out of their shop in less than two hours because the system takes so long to upgrade your contracts. They take no responsibility if the shop created the wrong contract for you and you as a client have to sort out their mess between their shop and head office, taking you hours on phone calls from one department to another. They drop your calls constantly after 20 min. Best of all they are the most expensive service provider in South Africa.
In January 2021 I phoned them about an upgrade for my laptop because I never received a contract from them. I was told by the consultant that the contract is only due for cancellation on 30/05/2022. I could not believe my ears. I know for a fact that I took the contract out in December 2018 and 3 years from then should come to December 2021. They then put me through to billing to find out what is going on. Billing assured me that it is due in December 2021 and they will fix the problem. In March I got phoned to upgrade another contract of mine and I asked them to first tell me if my laptop contract has been fixed. Low and behold again cancellation is only due at end May 2022, I once again was put through to billing to sort out the issue, once again was reassured that they will correct the mistake.
Last week I received a phone call about another upgrade, I told the consultant that I am a very unhappy client of them and have already canceled two of my son's contracts. I told them I will only upgrade if the situation with my laptop has been sorted out, once again I was told the cancellation is only due at 30/05/2022. I was furious, they promised to log a ticket. Hear no word if the situation was sorted and had a consultant phoning me telling me there is now 50% discount on their contracts. I told him that I logged the issue last week with my laptop and still do not know if it has been resolved. He came back to me telling me that the issue was resolved already 24 hours from the call and that the contract was already done in December 2020. I told him so then I only took out a 2-year contract for my laptop and that Vodacom then owes me money. He told me that it is the customer's responsibility to renew the contract, now how must a client renew a conract if Vodacom has no cooking clue when it is done?
I asked him to send me my contract with a resolution. He sends me the contract, no apology, no resolve, nothing. On the contract the following shows up, which explains the problem with my contract which boils down to Vodacom not being able to work out 36 months from 19/12/2018. This is what is on my contract: Date: 2018-12-19 Contract Term Date: 2022-05-30 as you can clearly see gives you 42 months instead of 36 months stated lower down on their contract. (VODAFONE R218H LTE + HP I7 + TOP DOG VOUCHER @ R629 PM (R553 Finance + R76 Sub) on 1GB Data Price plan Top up (36 Months)
Now the question is, what reason do I have as a customer to believe that they did not add extra months over the years to my other contracts. With this type of service which customer would like to continue their service with the most expensive service provider? An last but not least, when are you going to fix this contract of mine. THIRTY SIX MONTHS FROM 19DECEMBER 2018 DO NOT COME TO 30/05/2022 IT COMES TO 19/12/2021.
To Vodacom customers, do not walk out of the shop without a copy of your contract, if you renew over the phone sit on them to send you your contract and check the dates on your contract.
