4GB of Data abnormally consumed by normal usage

I'm allocated 2GB of contract data every month on a sim card I use on a modem, with my computer. The data, usually lasts me for at least 15 days and more, and have been using the same computer and modem for almost two years. The same amount of data was allocated on 1st of August, and I used
1. About 3hrs of normal internet on the 1st of August
2. No internet at all on the 2nd
3. About 5hrs or less, on the 3rd
4. On the 4th the 2GB of data was exhausted, after about 2hrs of usage. So I loaded 1GB.
5. On the 5th after about 30min of usage, the 1GB loaded on the 4th was also exhausted.
Throughout these 5 days, I have only used the internet as I normally do on the same computer in case of background running applications, absolutely nothing new, yet data gets consumed much faster and quicker.
When I contacted Vodacom on 111 on the 4th I was told Data Services would be able to tell me why this is, but when I contacted Data Services on the 5th, I was told they can't send me a statement to see exactly how much data was consumed and when, and was advised that technical services would send me the statement. I have not yet had any response from technical services.
