41 Month Vodacom Contract, no proof of agreement or contract.

Good Day all,

This is just a warning to all customers of Vodacom to never upgrade, renew or take out a contract over the phone or online, as told to me by "non-Vodacom" employees at the "non-Vodacom store" at Mall@Reds.

First, the reason why I am saying "non-Vodacom" is because I was, in no uncertain terms, informed that my anger is miss directed as they do not work for Vodacom, even though the shop says Vodacom and everything around you says Vodacom and they also wear Vodacom shirts but...they work for Hi-cell and not Vodacom so they take no responsibility for any *******ities around contracts, exiting or non-existing, not opened in a store. Even after they phoned Vodacom online, and they could also not help me I was informed it is my fault for answering the phone and upgrading my contract, during Covid when everything was closed and it was full lockdown, with a Vodacom representative who phoned me and had all my details. I did not have to give a single bit of my info to this person as he had everything.

What basically happened, is that a Vodacom representative, who I only found out today was from a company called "Rewardsco" whom Vodacom outsourced and supp**** all my info to, without my knowledge, phoned me to upgrade my contract. After a long discussion in May of 2020 I told him which phone I wanted in the catalogue and a 24 month contract was agreed to at a fixed rate. First month debit order and suddenly the amount is R60 more than what was agreed to, struggled for about 3 months to get my contract, as I never received anything by mail as promised, to try and sort this out until I eventually gave up and accepted the inflated price. Then suddenly when it was about time to upgrade this month I found out it is a 41 MONTH contract that only ends in October of 2023, went to the non-Vodacom shop who logged a ticket as neither they could find any proof of a contract or anything related to this deal, except the type of phone, type of contract and contract end date. Then Vodacom decided that this can’t be a 41 MONTH contract, as that does not exist, and just took the next best thing and made it a fixed 36 month contract, without any proof of details or agreements or even trying to get this sorted out and also…still no contract available. This is the best they can do. Now I am being told that seeing as I took the call, it is my responsibility to phone the company Rewardsco, whom Vodacom outsourced and shared all my info with and who I had to enquire about as I had no knowledge of this, to try and get the contract from them and also the voice recording and then I have to submit this proof to Vodacom so that they can investigate. Even though the end point of all of this is still Vodacom and they are the ones invoicing me and debiting my account without any legal proof on their side of any agreement related to this contract.

I have been with Vodacom for over 14 years now, I currently have 4 open contracts with them and the moment they are all paid up, including this 41/36 month contract, I will never ever do business with Vodacom again.
