23 years and stinking
22nd dec, I received a call asking if I wanted to exercise my upgrade options (3 contracts) I elected to do so on only 1 , my main contract. About 45 Min later we were agreed and done. The salesperson promised me 2 things : I would have my phone delivered in 3 working days, and the new Iphone 12 came with headphones (I was unsure as I had read reports that it didn't , and for personal reasons, this is important to me) He assured me they did! 2 days later, phone was delivered - no headphones. On reflection, I realised that I wanted the i12 Pro, not just the i12. Dont want to make a meal of it, but had the consultant consulted better, I would have asked for the i12 pro upfront, but that's the price I pay for ignorance and dealing with these things while distracted shopping. With Xmas, took me 3 days to get through to the call centre. I was told that I would need to cancel the new upgrade, and re-apply for the phone I wanted. No mention of the ear phones !! For this to happen, my incorrect phone would need to be collected, then the contract cancelled, wait 3 days, confirm the contract had been cancelled, then re-apply. 3 days later, I hadn't heard from anyone, so called again. At this point, I was told collections take anywhere between 7 to 12 working days. Even got into an argument with call centre person about what was said (If I was told 7 to 12 days at the start of this, I would have objected immediately ) I started making calls again - many- pillar to post - to express my dissatisfaction (I'm being polite), and the best resolve I could get, was that the old device would be collected probably Monday 4th Jan, definitely by Tues 5th Jan. Today is the 6th, I no longer wait with baited breath, I have another life I live. For the life of me, I don't understand why a sale takes 2 days to complete, and to change that sales (not cancel) takes somewhere up to 3 weeks - actually, the inference is obvious !! At the time of the initial sales call, the salesman started off with "wow, I see you have been with Vodacom for 23 years" (during this time, I have had anywhere up to 5 contracts at a time) Fat lot of good it does to have a track record with Vodacom when you still get treated like a (cell) number. Red customers get special treatment ! Ja right.... Now I'm not sure that any of the other operators treat their clients any differently or better, but I certainly expect better, and I find myself wondering if porting my number(s) is still an option. Be interesting to hear exactly why 2 days is possible on delivery, but 7-12 days is needed on collection, when its the same courier company ...Why cant I take the phone to a vodacom shop- there must / should / ought to be an internal service ?? Crazy, stinks of rotten service despite the advertising.
PS, I also discovered that there are certain "rewards" available for customers , the higher you rank - the better they are - why in 23 years have I never had a consultant tell / offer me this advice?

Not only was a promise made on this site (6 Jan) - that a consultant would be in touch with
me, I also received an SMS saying this has been escalated to a " Solution Expert"...
Of course none of this has happened.
In the Interim, I have received my monthly invoice - clearly showing the upgrade, and to my horror, have been billed an additional amount for 25gigs of Data - which was part of the deal the Mondo salesperson discussed with me ,included in my new contract.
I have no doubt that a response to this mail, or contact being made with me, will be in the region of another week, despite that fact that you clearly have all my details, making it very simple to have someone of any authority or backbone - contact me telephonically.
"Dear Customer, Thank you for the time and effort taken to voice your dissatisfaction to our office. It is with the cooperation and feedback from valued clients such as yourself that we are able to identify any areas of improvement within our organisation."
Lovely words, meaningless when
A) Replies take for ever
B) Human interaction is avoided
C) The actions are void of any real attempt in turning dissatisfied clients into satisfied clients. That I have been a client for 23 years is treated with contempt.
