1st experience with vodacom very horrible!
Vodacom called me and offered me insurance for my phone and because on the day i couldn't provide all the information they needed i asked them to call me back but i missed their call. I went to the Vodacom shop at Ferndale on Republic in Randburg to follow up on a laptop contract application that was taking very long and didn't materialise and they gave me *** which is a number that deals with insurance for prepaid lines. On the 3nd of March i called since i was interested in getting my iphone 7 plus insured, i spoke to a lady and she asked for the details to process the transaction, she then said the first debit would be on the 31 March which would be R150 but my phone is insured from the day. At end of the call the lady proceeded to say "Mam your phone is now insured, so that means anything happens to your phone after today your phone is insured". A few days later i went to the same vodacom shop to make sure that my phone is indeed insured, the guy in the store called the same number spoke to a different consultant to double check and she confirmed it was active and reassured me that my phone is covered if anything were to happen to it. Fast forward to the end of March they debit more than initial R150 we had agreed on when i called the same number to ask why they did that , they said it was more than what we had agreed on because the extra money they took for the pro-rata. Beginning of May on the 2nd my phone gets lost in a taxi on my way from work. On the 3nd of May i went to Vodacom - Ferndale on Republic) and i get it blocked and claim it and the guy says its approved and tells me my options and the excess i have to pay but he also tells me that i don't qualify to get a iphone and i didn't really want to go to android and i didn't believe him so i went for a second opinion at Cresta Mall and the sales consultant said i do qualify and i tired to get an iphone that the would insurance cover but i didn't due to the fact that the vodacom stores did not have stock . Got home and called the *** number to find out if they could find me an iphone that my insurance would cover and that sales consultant referred me to a guy from their warehouse to source the closest replacement, the guy called with his private cell number and said he had an iphone 8 and the excess would be R1100, sent me the banking details and before i sent the money i wanted to make sure if that was the correct procedure so i waited till the weekend ended and called the *** number again on Monday to check, the consultant told me my claim was declined and that my phone shouldn't have been insured to begin with since it was bought in 2019. She also said that there was a waiting period of 3 months before i could claim which is not what i was told. Called again the next day and heard the 3 months story again and went to the vodacom store in Clearwater Mall and same story. I'm very unhappy with the experience with vodacom because their stories change with everyone i've spoken to and they made empty promises to me. It has just been a very stressful situation and my 1st insurance experience has been horrible.
