10 months of Migration and a Job lost in the process.
In February 2018 took up a cellphone contract with vodacome for a very nice cellphone after years of have a bed phone, a few months down the line in May 2018 my employment ended, therefore I called Vodacome to ask that I change my plan to one I could be able to afford, I was sent a plan migration quotation to move to a smaller package of which I signed and sent back to Vodacome, this was in June 2018, the migration was supposed to be successful immediately and the next billing would include a migration fee of +-R280of which I agreed to. I was then told by the consultant at the migrations department that the migration was not going through it kept on canceling itself, then he transferred me to the solutions department, that department also did the same thing and with them it was also not going through. They promised to get help and call me back. I received a call about a week later from one of the experts there and he advised me to call in 3 months to make the migration as my account is still new therefore it wont migrate. (Keep in mind that I am migrating because I cannot afford to pay the current amount anymore, yet I'm told to try again after 3 months, meaning I'll be paying an amount I can't even afford), he assured me that we would use the same quotation and fee. In August 2018 I called vodacome and requested to migrate again, if I remember correctly, Sibuiso was assisting me, he generated a new quotation that came with it's on migration fee of +-R1000, I told him that I cannot afford to pay that and I was assured to use the same quotation as per my first request, he asked me to email him that quotation, I sent it to him and he continued with the migration request, after several minutes he informed me that the migration keeps canceling itself, he tried over and over and it was not happening. He then said he would seek expert help and get back to me, he never did, when I called I was transfered to a different Call centre that could not send me back to the one sibuso worked in, I therefore had to explain the whole process and where it currently stands to the Customer service consultant who would also transfer me to the solutions department and I would then have to tell the story of my migration dating to June all over again. There were reveral new attempts to migrate, with the person assisting having to generate a new quotation with an even larger migration fee then having me send them my original quotation and then the migration would be canceled and then I'd have to wait for an expert to come back to me, then I'd call again after a few days and go through the same process again with a different consultant all over then a different solutions department consultant. I eventually became cross and I requested to speak to the team leader in the solutions department, this was now in October 2018, the team leader listend to my story that I had to tell all over, then tried the migration and it canceled then she said she would call me back, when she did she tells me that the reason it's not going through is because vodacome has not increased my credit limit, I must request that they do that, we requested that, even though it does not make sense to me why I have to request my credit to be increased whereby I am trying to reduce the plan I am on, the team leader "Innocentia" then referred me to a vodacome shop and I would go there as they would contact them and try helping me with increasing the limit, to no success, she then said I would have to wait 3 months for vodacome to review its credit limits and be able to increase mine, then I explained all over that I dont want more credit, I want to reduce my plan, she then tells me that actually the reason it is not going though is because I have not agreed to pay the penalty charges, (since June, nothing of a penalty charge was ever mentioned), I asked if she is referring to the migration fees she said, "no, you have to pay migration fee and penalty fee", I told her that that was never mentioned to me and I cannot afford to pay it as the penalty fee about +-R2000, then she said I should not pay then. I called them back to ask her to send me what she was telling me via email and I was told that she does not exist, there is no team leader by the name innocentia and then asked me to explain what was going on and I had to tell the story all over staring from June and we tried going through the migration process again which then cancelled. I then informed the consultant that I cannot continue paying Vodacome because I dont have the money as per I have been telling them, and yes the debit oder would bounce because I did not have enough funds in my account, it has been bouncing since November 2018. The account got into arrears and I was applying everywhere for a job so I could be able to afford to pay vodacome and whenever the accounts consultant called me I would refer them to the migration or solutions department. Yesterday I had an interview for a well paying job, and it was successful, however when they did a credit check they found that vodacome had handed me over to their debt collection and I now have a bad credit record and they called to inform me that they will not hire me based on that as they are a financial institution and cannot hire anyone with a bad record. Therefore I lost that one chance of being able to pay off vodacome and have a prosperous future for myself. (Broke my heart). I called vodacome and asked for a status of my account and I was told that the accounts consultant can help, that department then told me that I should call their 3rd party company that collects their debts and request a review from them that company sent me back to vodacome because I was not ever informed that my account was handed over, when i called the account department the female Amnda assured me that no my account was not handed over as it is still with vodacome and I should call the solutions department and ask for their assistance with migration, I called them, when they checked they saw that the account is still with them, then when I asked why I was told its handed over, he then checked and as he was checking I recieved an SMS telling me that my account has been handed over to a collections company, then he informs me that indeed it has been handed over and I was supposed to be told this in February. I explained my whole story to him and he said he would listen to call recordings, he listened to them and even found the recording of the day I was told the team leader "innocentia" does not exist and he is trying to locate her.
All I am asking from Vodacome is that my migration be successful and I pay my outstanding fees from the new plan I would have been on had my migration been successful in August, because I cant ask them for anything else as I have lost that one Employment opportunity that I have been applying for since 2015 and when I got it in 2018, Vodacome took it away from me.
