Shocking service and *********** accounts department

My deceased father used oxygen machines and cylinders provided by Vitalaire before his passing in 2015. I won't get started on the shocking service when trying to get oxygen delivered or machines fixed as that would be a whole other post and this post is about their appalling, *********** and rude accounts department.

Before my father died we were trying to sort out his account with Vitalaire dating back from before 2013. At some point, Vitalaire moved across to a new accounting system and their take on of accounts was appaling - at one point we had three different accounts for my father. After sitting for hours and hours on the phone (when you were lucky enough to get somebody to actually answer) and many, many emails we managed to get down to one account. We then discovered that even though new medical aid details had been sent on a number of occasions, the accounts department were still trying to claim from a medical aid that had been stopped in 2008! And this was 2013! After many, many more hours on a phone and more emails we were told that the error did indeed sit with Vitalaire and that they would be writing off the so-called outstanding debt.

We however continued to get statements for this amount. I have tried to get this sorted now for almost 4 years. Each time you actually do manage to get through to somebody in accounts, it is a different person so the whole process starts again. And when you do speak to somebody they have to audacity to laugh at you while you are trying to get things sorted.

I have now spoken to Managers in the Debtors department who make all sorts of promises to phone back - I am still waiting and I have even tried to get hold of the National Creditors manager who I was assured would call me back directly - again I am still waiting.

Is this how Vitalaire runs its business? it is no wonder that there are almost nothing but complaints about your company on this site. Your customer service and ability to deal with accounts is simply atrocious.

I am tired of dealing with anybody from the accounts department and should a senior manager from the Head Office accounts department not contact me urgently, we will be seeking legal advice. And no, an apology does not cut it now.

We also want it in writing that the account has been written off and closed and that we will no longer be bothered by Vitalaire.

I have been told on numerous occasions that the account has been written off and yet I am still receiving statements. - my father has been dead for 2 years now and every time we get one of your innocuous envelopes, we are reminded of how horrible his last year on this earth was.

This has been going on for 4 years people and you still can't get it right! I wonder what your parent company would think if we had to start contacting them directly?

We are clearly not getting any response from Vitalaire by trying to follow the correct path within the company so let’s see if this makes any difference.

I am sure that this complaint will get the stock standard reply that all the other complaints received but I won’t hold my breath that anything will be done.
