Only excuses when having to pay claims

On Monday 16 December 2024 my house was struck by lightning. The roof tiles were thrown off the roof and the fucia boards were broken and fell off. Two windows were also broken in the strike. I then got somebody to get on the roof and replace the tiles, as it had been raining for some time after that, just to stop further damage. My claim has been declined due to low maintenance as the putty on the windows was old, and the fucia boards were old. Now I would like know what hard putty and old fucia boards have to do with whether your house was struck by lightning or not. I have always done more than required when something happens. A while ago I heard water running in my roof. I switched the main water inlet off and asked somebody to.please come and disconnect my geyser so it would not cause more damage. The geyser was replaced, but I could have left it and claimed for my floors and paint ad well. Virseker are fast to ask you to support them, and are sponsors for many events. But that is the money of the premium payer that pays for this. I wish they were so concerned about premium payers as they were about their sponsorship.
