Dont try'to insure all your property if you are not a home owner

I live in an extremely hot town in a Departmental rental house with no airconditioning. I have opted to install two split units, one in my lounge and one the in the bedroom. After a severe storm over the weekend the aircon in the bedroom did not work. The technician I requested to have look at it indicated that I will have to replace it as it was damaged with the lightning.

I contact Virseker who now indicate that it cannot be covered because it is sèen in the same light as a satelite dish mounted on the wall...so now what really boggles my mind is the fact that all three televisions in my house is also mounted to the wall - the same as the satelite dish and the two split units. These split units are my property and I can remove it and install it at the next rental property or home I would choose to purchase. How does the split unit form part of the structure if it is mouted on a bracket, but my tv which is also mounted on brackets dont?

I indicated that I need to be able to cover my spllit units and I was just told it can't be done unless I own the property I then said I will in that case have to changemy insurance and the consultant was very eager for me to rather cancel and go somewhere else instead of finding out if there is another way to insure the split units which I own. I have never felt so invaluble to any other company. She even called me back to ensure that I canceland the policy with them. If it is so easy for them to tell me to see where I can get better that is exactly what I will be doing. In fact I already found another Insurer who does cover that under home content.
