Mislead by sales person

Hello guys. Am so heart broken 💔 . A friend joined Virgin Active Polokwane and gave my name to a sales person. She was told there s a promotion running for a month . The sales lady came to see me at work and I signed up for the promotion. I got a shock of my life coz I was not told that if I sign up for the promotion then i am automatically signing up for the gym. I was under the impression that am signing up for promotion then I will decide if I want to join a gym or not at the end of the month. I got a shock of my life when I saw Virgin Active debited from my account month end. When I escalate this matter with management they told me I am liable to pay R13000 for cancelation fee. I did not even set my foot in the gym neither hve I received copy of my contract via the mail. Is there anyone with similar situation who's been mislead by sales people before?
