Do not use this micro chip

Please don’t use Virback Back Home chips on your animals. They don’t share there information to the national data bases like AMLA Animal Microchip Look Up Africa, chip n doodle, Get me known. These are big data bases that all other microchip companies upload there data to except virback. My lost dog was taken to a vet and the vet checked these databases and couldn’t find my information. Apparently the vet has to look on the virback data base directly to find your information. They claim it’s because of the POPI act.

All other microchip companies make the information freely available. Please use any other microchip.

Dear Gabby
There is no national database in South Africa that requires all chips to be registered on. Many of the chip companies have their own databases where they register their own brand of microchips on. Virbac is not associated with AMLA or Chip n Doodle. We have however, recently developed a database called Find My Chip, in partnership with Identipet. We are in the process of encouraging all chip companies to join this database at no cost, so a proper national database can be set up. We have sent out numerous communications to vets about registering on this database.
The Virbac Backhome database is one of the few databases that allows any brand of microchip to be registered on our database. All vets have access to this database if they register on the database as a vet. They then have full access to search for any microchip.

We trust this addresses any concerns
