Deceptive. Do your research first.
Be very careful before you sign on the dotted line. I am very glad I did my research first. They are very attentive in the early stages because they want your business but they are not as transparent as they should be. Even the free quote and home inspection very cleverly dodged my questions about the geyser supply. Luckily, I insisted on being sent a mock agreement before signing the quote. What they don't mention unless you dig: The system will not connect your geyser/s to the back up/battery system. So if you prefer to shower in the morning your geyser would use the same electricity off the grid as usual, so you'll still have to pay for Eskom for the most expensive appliance you have unless you set a timer for your geyser to go off when the sun goes down (which you will have to buy ands install at your own expense or at an additional cost the installer will quote you for). You're basically just paying for your plugs to be backed up at night. Also, they advertise how installation is free but once your 36 month contract is up they will charge you 3-months of your premium costs to come and fetch or uninstall their equipment, which in my case would've been in excess of 10 grand. A convenient way to get you to have to renew your contract if you don't have an additional 10K plus lying around.

While geysers are not placed on the essential (backup) circuit, this is done intentionally to preserve battery life for critical loads during outages. This does not mean that non-essential items, such as your geyser, are excluded from the benefit of your solar system. When the grid is available, any excess solar or backup energy is used to subsidise non-essential loads. This only changes during a grid outage, when power is prioritised for essential items. With regard to the de-installation fee, this is communicated throughout the process and is an industry standard. The fee is intended to cover the actual costs associated with safely removing and redeploying the system and is not a profiteering exercise. In fact, Versofy’s fee is among the least punitive in the market.
