Varsity College DOES NOT MAKE STUDENTS FEEL CARED FOR AND HEARD

I wish I could give 0 stars. I am an online student with Varsity College and am appalled at all the backwards changes they have made this year. It is my 2nd year with them but I have majority 3rd year modules. not only are they not allowing distance students to write the exams they're accustomed to (online, open-book exams) and are shifting to sit-down, closed-book exams for them, but now they are limiting the access we have to services and content. Many of the online students are working adults, parents, or international students. Last year we were able to access the content at any point but this year we can only download the lecture slides DURING Collabs (calls) which are EVERY SECOND WEEK. Collabs are usually at 6pm South African time which is in the middle of the work day in some countries or even the middle of the night. In South Africa, that is often when people, for example me, finish work. I am unable to attend the Collabs most of the time as I would have to leave work early to be able to, so I watch the recording and study with the notes. The notes cannot be downloaded when watching the recording. So now they are not only trapping us with sit-down closed-book exams (which are archaic and outdated enough as is) but they are also not allowing us access to the Tutor content unless we attend the Collabs live. This is unacceptable! Aside from work times limiting my ability to attend live, I also have conflicts frequently and cannot attend two classes at the same time.

I would advise anyone who is considering studying with VC to definitely look elsewhere. They change things after registration and say they're "returning to pre-pandemic operations" when none of their students affected by this were students prior to the pandemic and chose VC because they did open-book exams online. Now they also change access rules after registration.
