Unresponsive and obstructive service from Vantage Debt Counsellors

I have been under debt review with Vantage for 2 years and am now working towards settling my accounts and exiting the programme. I have sent multiple written requests for settlement quotations since 6 July, but Vantage refuses to assist unless I already have the funds — which makes no sense for planning. Especially because I had given them dates of when I will have the funds and wanted to plan accordingly. They also delay responses and give incomplete answers when they do reply.

This lack of transparency is unacceptable and goes against the consumer protections in the National Credit Act. I have escalated this to the NCR but urge others to be cautious when dealing with this service provider.

I am seeking urgent cooperation from Vantage to issue all settlement letters so I can take the next steps toward financial freedom.

Reviewer Update
On 28 July 2025, someone from Vantage (Compliant Management or something) called me and said they will have this issue attended to according to the normal standards, this follows the review I wrote above.

On 29 July 2025, Vantage confirmed all 6 of my credit providers had verified my accounts as paid up. They promised a refund by 06 August and said the Clearance Certificate process had already been initiated.
  • The refund was only processed after I followed up, not on the promised date.
  • On 25 August, after the 2-week timeline had passed, I was only then told to submit an updated FNB statement – this was never communicated earlier.
  • On 28 August, they sent an email repeating the 29 July wording as if the process is only being initiated now.

These delays are now affecting my relocation benefit with my new employer, as I may forfeit some benefits if the Clearance Certificate isn’t issued in time. I am extremely dissatisfied with the lack of proactive communication and timeline management and may escalate this to the NCR and Credit Ombud if not resolved urgently.
