Outstanding Customer Service – Thank You, VAG Menlyn!
Took my Polo in for a coolant flush because we suspected oil in the coolant, but it turned out to just be rust. Elaine, at the front desk was brilliant, kept me updated. Explained everything clearly and kept me in the loop the whole time. No upselling, just clear, honest communication. Left feeling confident and looked after. Highly recommend.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding Customer Service – Thank You, VAG Menlyn!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding Customer Service – Thank You, VAG Menlyn! I had one of those unexpected moments when my Audi warned me that the left rear brake light had failed. I removed the rear light unit myself, took the faulty bulb with me, and walked into VAG Menlyn hoping to buy a replacement. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by Elaine, whose friendliness and professionalism immediately stood out. She took ownership of the situation without hesitation and even arranged for one of the technicians to bring my car into the workshop to ensure the new bulb was fitted correctly. While my two children and I waited, we were invited to sit in the waiting area and were even offered coffee. We were made to feel genuinely welcome and at home. The technician not only replaced the bulb but also refitted the entire light unit that I had removed, ensuring everything was correctly assembled before handing my keys back. As I was leaving, Elaine wished me well and warmly invited me to return if I ever needed assistance again. The biggest surprise? There was absolutely no charge. In a time when exceptional customer service seems increasingly rare, VAG Menlyn reminded me what true customer care looks like. It wasn't about selling a bulb—it was about helping a customer with kindness, professionalism, and genuine hospitality. A heartfelt thank you to Elaine, the technician who assisted me, and the entire team at VAG Menlyn. You've earned a loyal customer, and I won't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for outstanding service. Five stars are simply not enough! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

14-Month Nightmare: Vehicle Left Stripped, Damaged, and Unresolved
Honest review: Trust these guys at your own peril. I am sharing my awful experience over the last 14 months. As of July 2026, I am paying R6k a month for a car that has been stripped and sitting dead for nearly a year. I am already well over R100k down the drain between credit card debt for failed repairs, rentals, and Uber costs. The Timeline of Misdiagnoses & Failures: March 2025: Took the car to Vag Spec for a post-purchase inspection and a vibration issue. They assured me the car was fine and sent me on a road trip to Cape Town. The engine failed to retain all its oil on the trip. Cape Town Branch: Diagnosed and replaced the front/rear main seals, flywheel, clutch, and tappet cover (R38k). The leak returned immediately that day, attempted multiple fixes, none worked. Menlyn Branch: Replaced the front main seal roughly 10 more times, repeatedly claiming it was just a "faulty part, the engine is fine"? July 2025 Took car back for diagnostics and returned leak, waited weeks for feedback. August 2025: They finally found the crank had play. Quoted R76k for a rebuild (6-week estimate). Approved the work, paid R35k via warranty, 10k deposit and balance was credited due to previous work. June 2026: 11 Months Later: The engine work has rendered the block uneconomical to repair. The Shocking Customer Service: Communication is non-existent unless I hunt them down. I have been passed between Travis (left), Leon (never called), André Louw (won't take calls), and now Toni. When the case gets heavy the manager disappears. Since November, I’ve been fed false promises that the car is "almost ready," yet engine parts were only ordered 4 months after starting the build. In April 2026, André offered me a loan car to keep me quiet. That loan car has ruined my driveway with oil leaks and requires a jump-start twice a week. They fetched it for repairs on 09/07/2026. Involving the RMI (Pieter Niemand) in April yielded little progress. I was recently told the team has "given up on the rebuild" and will look for a used engine. After a whole year of back and forth. My car is currently sitting with a flat battery and cracking, flat tyres. It hasn't moved in months. I visited the shop with tears in my eyes to explain the financial and emotional toll this is taking, and nothing changed. If you value your sanity, your money, and your vehicle, avoid this establishment at all costs. I believe I have little alternatives other than pursuing compensation in the legal system. #poorservice #multiplecomebacks #enginerebuild #delays #delays #bankruptcustomer #warning #poorexperience #promises #servicefailure #stayfaraway #stayaway #avoidatallcosts #avoid"

Paid for a Major Service – Still Waiting for Proof the Work Was Done
I entrusted my 2021 VW T-Cross to VAG Spec Menlyn for a major service on 11 May based on their reputation as South Africa's largest independently owned VAG specialist and their claims of employing highly qualified technicians and following strict quality standards. Unfortunately, my experience has left me questioning whether the work I paid for was actually completed and whether the vehicle was subjected to the quality checks advertised. After the service: • I discovered that the cabin (pollen) filter, which was invoiced as replaced, appears not to have been replaced. I have photographic evidence showing a 2023 date marking on the installed filter. • The engine underbody splash plate came loose shortly after leaving the workshop and on my drive home, resulting in damage and the need for replacement. What concerns me most is not only the workmanship issues, but the complete lack of transparency and accountability that followed. I requested: The service job card Confirmation of all parts replaced Proof that replacement parts were purchased and fitted Quality assurance records confirming the vehicle was checked before release A call from the Regional Manager to discuss and resolve the matter To date, I have received no meaningful response and no supporting evidence that the invoiced work was completed as claimed. As a customer, I believe it is reasonable to expect that when a workshop invoices for replacement parts, they should be able to provide evidence that those parts were supp**** and fitted. Likewise, when a vehicle leaves a workshop with components coming loose shortly after service, there should be a willingness to investigate and engage with the customer. I have exhausted all reasonable attempts to resolve this matter directly and am now pursuing formal escalation through MIOSA and other consumer protection channels. My intention is not to damage a business's reputation, but to share my experience and allow others to make informed decisions based on how this matter has been handled.

Failed to Overhauled my Engine
From 2***:Unresolved engine overhaul failure – Matter escalated to Ombudsman I am writing this review to share my experience regarding a complete engine overhaul service provided by Vag Spec Menlyn. After paying for a major engine overhaul, the engine suffered a critical failure. Despite the vehicle being well within a reasonable period following the repair, the workshop has refused to take accountability or rectify the failed workmanship under warranty. Due to the lack of cooperation and the refusal to resolve this matter professionally, I have been left with no choice but to escalate the dispute. A formal case has been opened and is currently being investigated by the Motor Industry Ombudsman of South Africa (MIOSA), along with all supporting photographic and technical evidence. I am deeply disappointed by the lack of service, accountability, and vehicle reliability after spending significant money with this establishment. Prospective customers should be aware of how disputes and major component failures are handled here.
