Vacation Hub International - Stay Away!!

Member 502682. On 27/02/2018 we attended a presentation at Protea Hotel Centurion, after receiving an invitation from the Horizon Group. The sales representative Clement Arendse guaranteed an income from our timeshare with RCI and Vacation Club by selling for instance bonus breaks, which would pay for the membership. We signed the agreement and had to sign consent for right of use of these memberships. We paid a deposit of R14399. When we got home, the agreement clearly stated that “VHI or the Service Provider does not in any way guarantee that any income will be derived from this Travel Consolidator Option”. It was clear that Clement’s promises were false and completely unrealistic and we also have serious doubts whether VHI have the international network as claimed, to sell the bonus breaks. Clement would not give any contact number and after the sale disappeared. We afterwards found out that it is not allowed to sell the vacation ownership to a third party. The following day, 28/02/2018 we decided to cancel the agreement, only to find out that it could only be done at their address in Somerset-West (clause 22) and had to be done within five business days. The cancellation letter was send with a courier to the address and was received by Nadjezchda on 2/03/2018. This clause is clearly a tactic to make it difficult for anyone to cancel within the five days. Further proof of this is that when their office was phoned on 28/02/2018, the receptionist Najefta said that the cancellation could only be processed once the agreement is received and she refused to transfer the call to the admin department. A fax number and email address also appears on the agreement and the cancellation was also send to both on 28/02/2018. This is the same address where the office is but this kind of communication is not accepted, although the CPA regard it is sufficient. On 28/02/2018 phoned again and spoke to Rozelle Van Wyk and a Manager Elsabe Labuschagne, in the admin department to inform them about the cancellation. Rozelle refused to answer any questions related to the cancellation or contract. Both of them agreed that there was no cancellation fee if cancelled within five days. On 1/03/2018 we telephonically submitted the tracker parcel reference number of the courier to Elsabe and she said that she will inform us once the cancellation is received, which did not happen. Was also told by Elsabe to send an email to VHI email on agreement but never received any feedback. On 2/03/2018 contacted Elsabe to find out about status of the cancellation but she said will phone back in 30 minutes which did not happen. On 6/03/2018 phoned again and was told that Elsabe works with the file and only she can assist but she is not available. Left a message for her but she did not phone back. On 8/03/2018 phoned again and again left a message for Elsabe to phone back. Spoke to Sandra and was told that there is no upload on the system w.r.t. the process of the cancellation. Was also told by her that they have no yet received the agreement that was posted to them on 28/02/2018. This is just further proof of the questionable way in which they go about doing business. If we have waited for them to receive the agreement as advised on 28/02/2018, and only then cancelled, the five day period would have expired and fees or penalties will then have to be paid. It is clear that this is just another way of making money out of innocent customers. What is of great concern, how is it possible that they have not yet received the agreement after 11 days. Elsabe phoned back on 8/03/2018, left a voicemail saying that they have received my cancellation. This is totally unacceptable as they have already received the cancellation on 2/03/2018 and this means in 6 days they have done nothing to process the cancellation. If the refund is not paid within the 15 day period as prescribed by the Consumer Protection Act, a formal complaint will be laid with the CPA. Are also looking at finding the Regulator of this Industry to lodge a complaint, as this company clearly needs to be investigated.

Goodday, according to the last communication from your office on 12/03/2018 you have still not received the agreement. How is this possible? I am also still waiting to get a response from your office about status w.r.t. of the cancellation and the refund that must be done. Tomorrow 23/03/2018 I will lodge a formal complaint with the Consumer Protection Commission as you are required according to the CPA to pay the refund within 15 day.

On 17/03/2018 VHI emailed an offer to try and keep us as members but was send to the wrong email address. If they can not even get the email address right, very doubtful that they will successfully book an overseas vacation. Declined the offer as this is clearly another way to try and delay the paying back of the refund. On 3/04/2018 was informed that a audited process is followed and once that is completed, a form will be send that needs to be completed to claim back the refund - clearly more delaying tactics to pay the refund. VHI also appears to be above the law as they have failed to pay the refund within the 15 days as required by the CPA. Lodged a formal complaint with the Consumer Commission today as the refund have still not being paid. Do not trust this company as you cannot believe anything that they / Manager Elsabe Labuschagne tell you.

The refund forms were emailed to Elsabe Labuschagne on 12/04/2018. On 19/04/2018 had a telephonic conversation with Elsabe as she enquired about lodging a dispute with the 2nd bank transaction and informed her that there was not a 2nd dispute. She told me that the refund will be made in about two weeks. Only to find out on 17/05/2018 when enquiring about the progress with the refund, that an email was send to me on 5/05/2018 about the 2nd dispute, which I did not receive. Informed Elsabe that it was already discussed, and enquired why VHI keep on delaying the process. No reply was received. Send a follow-up email on 24/05/2018 and 28/05/2018 to Elsabe about the refund, but have not received ANY reply. Phoned VHI offices 4 times on 28/05/2018 but the line appears to be engaged all the time. VHI have forced me to sign a settlement agreement on their terms, in order to get a refund. Despite this, a 30 business day period was required to process the refund which have already expired on 25/05/2018 and still have NOT received the refund. VHI did not adhere to the agreement that was signed. Therefore will now seek legal advice on this matter, and will ensure that I get the media involved in this.

It is impossible to get through on your telephone line and this kind of communication through hello peter is unnecessary if you respond to my emails. Please send all communication in writing to my email address. I am awaiting your urgent reply.

Goodday, as I have informed your Manager Miranda Holtrop per email. I have discussed the document that was requested by VHI with FNB and according to the bank official it is clear that VHI is using this as a delaying tactic to pay the refund as there is no such process in the bank and therefore will no letter be issued by the bank.

It was confirmed by Absa bank on 4/07/2018 that VHI is *******ly deducting money from my bank account per debit order. On 22/03/2018 VHI made an offer to me to stay on as a member which was rejected for obvious reasons. The offer was send via email by Manager Elsabe Labuschagne and on 23/03/2018 the offer was rejected by email. Various emails were send to Elsabe to confirm that the initial debit order was cancelled as the agreement was cancelled but the monthly premium of the offer which is R297.59 was still deducted from my bank account every month from 5/04/2018 until 2/07/2018. I managed to reverse all these payments in the end but it just keeps on being deducted again the following month because of the debit order. I please want confirmation from VHI in writing that this debit order will now be cancelled for once and for all. This is just proof again of the way in which VHI conduct their business and the level of their unprofessionalism and incompetence. I have also send via email on 5/07/2018 the letter from Absa bank as requested because VHI REFUSES to refund part of the money that is still owed for the deposit that was paid. I also need confirmation in writing of when this refund can be expected. Regards.
