Very poor service In August 2018 we went to a proposal of the VHI company. We were told that we have to attend, because we won a prize. We have to listen to the proposal in order to redeem the prize. We sat through the whole proposal and then were given a consultant to give us the opportunity to take out a membership. We took out a membership after the consultant told us, that if we give back the holiday that we won, he will in return give my mother a free flight ticket to New Zealand anytime in 2019. (The offer sounded good for my brother emigrated to New Zealand) We took out a membership and paid R5699 that night. We were told that we don't need to worry, they will ad the flight ticket to our membership and it will be available for use within 7-10 weeks. That's how long it takes to set up your profile and get your membership activated. BUT if you want, you must cancel the contract within the first 4 weeks after signing. After the activation was done, I phoned them to confirm the flight ticket being added to the membership. They told me that can't be done and that VHI is using a third party to do their marketing, so they can't take responsibility for the third party's promises. The consultant that night of the proposal asked his superior if that could be done and he said yes. So that didn't happen. I then asked to cancel the contract because of the making empty promises and looking the other way when asked about is. The lady I spoke to said to me, the cancelation fee is R10 000 and that I can do monthly payments of R500 until it is paid off. Now my question, how do you cancel something within weeks that hasn't been active for use so you can benefit from it?! This is ridiculous and now sI am told told to pay that cancelation fee. Please help?
