Truth about VHI

Hallo everyone. I am a real person and I am currently director of rugby at Hoerskool Noordheuwel in Krugersdorp. Myself and my wife love to go on holiday, and being teachers at school does not allow us to book the most expensive holidays, we however have a lot of school holidays so we decided to join VHI.

We were also invited to a seminar where all the sales reps sold us these great cheap holiday dreams. So yes we also fell in the trap and joined, swiping my credit card for R9000 plus and signing a monthly debit order interest free untill the membership is paid off after 2 years.

The following day I searched every internet sight for VHI and tried to log into their sight. But nothing worked. I tried calling but no answer. So I knew I was caught with a ****. I phoned my cousin in Cape Town and asked him to go to VHI office in Somerset. He phoned me from the office and I spoke to a lady on my cousins' phone. She told me that they do exist, my cousin said the office is legit.

After 3 days I received an email confirming my login details and membership number. So we tried them out.

Our first trip was to Dubai. Myself and my Wife went to Dubai in peak time over Christmas 20-30 December. We flew with Kenya Airways(which was impressive) had a stop over in Nairobi. We stayed in the Jannah Marina Bay apartments on the Dubai Marina. So if you have never been to Dubai, there are two sides. You can end up in Old Bur Dubai or in the JBR area at the Marina. If we stayed in Bur Dubai I would have propably hated it. Travel would have been expensive and it was in a old part. I never asked and Suleilah didthe whole booking. The Dubai Marina area is brilliant. It is on the marina with mega yachts. Walking distance to train stations. The beach. Malls etc. We saw everything in Dubai. (Atlantis. Emirates mall. Burj Khalifa. Burj al Arab. Ski Dubai. Dessert safari etc) our trip cost us under R20 000. For me and my wife. 10 days in Dubai. Including flights. (The only extra was our own Visa cost at around R1500pp)

So that was our first trip. Since then I have been to Dubai 3 times. -London 2015 rugby world cup -japan -Thailand -mauritius -UK

We recently went to Mabalingwe nature reserve. 6 people for a whole week at R1750. Not pp. That was it R1750 for 6 persons for a week.

We are on our way to Dubai yet again to play some golf. 24 September 2017 to 1 October 2017. We are 20 people all together on different VHI packages. We are getting flights return for R4890pp and accomodation at a 4 star SUHA RESIDENCE DUBAI MARINA at R2000pp.

I am in contact with VHI (Suleilah, Sulene and Ronell) almost every day at least twice a week. I plan holidays for a year in advance. I am not always happy with the price but then Suleilah will contact me and give me some other options.

You are welcome to check out my instagram account rocky.truter for all my photos. I also doubted VHI. and especially in todays life where luxury of holiday is limited. These people do help.

Just remember. I am a teacher. So I opt for the best cheapest available rate. I do not mind flying Kenya airways or having a two hour stopover. I do not mind a decent 3 star hotel. I want the cheapest rate.

I booked for a friend in Dubai. They are a family of 4. They booked and received a quote at Dubai Marina through anothe travel agencym the whole package was R62000. I booked them the same dates same flights. Same hotel through VHI for R33 000. Saved them R29 000. He is now a member at VHI.

I booked another friend in Atlantis the Palms. He received a quote for R104 000. I got the same deal for him for R84 000. Saving him R20 000.

There are cheap deals. And there are expensive deals. Surely you cant go to Dubai and stay in Atlantis presidential suite and expect to pay the rate of a 3 star hotel in Bur Dubai.

Happy holidays
