Vacation Hub International Marketing - rather NOT

We signed up for a Topaz membership in October 2016 for the following reasons: 1. Have VHI market our Flexi-and Holiday Club points to recover annual levy costs 2. Have our bonus breaks and other club membership benefits marketed on our behalf and possibly make some extra cash to use for holiday making during the year. Boy were we wrong. It cost us in excess of R9 000 per year for the membership fees apart from the R5900+ we had to pay as a deposit. Since signing - no offers for our points, hellishly expensive midweek and weekend offers out of season for the few requests I made. Total disaster. The contract has very little in common with what the sales person tell you. BE CAREFUL. In January 2016 I had to follow up why our points werent being marketed. The client services person informed me that they did not have everything they needed to market our points(why could they not have followed this up in the 8 weeks they take to register you) - I know for a fact that the sales agent said they needed nothing more than the inofrmation I provided at the contract signing - Membership numbers and passwords - the works were given. In November 2017 I got fed-up and wanted to get out of this wasting of money and contacted the office in Somerset West. When I enquired about opting out client services informed me that I needed to stick out the 24 months or pay 50% of the balance of monthly fees immediately if I cancelled. Times are tough and I could not aford the balloon payment. THEY REALLY HAVE YOU OVER A BARREL. My advice - don't even go to the presentation if you can even remotely be tempted into signing up for holiday savings programmes. Rather sell your Holoday or Flexi Club memberships and save your money if you cannot go on holiday out of peak season.

Dear Member Service Team Unfortunately the VHI reply was sterile and did not remedy my concerns nor did it improve the situation. Your reply in essence had the following recommendations: 1. I am forced to me to apply for holidays at times I cannot have a break. 2. I am forced to apply for accommodation several months in advance to realize YOUR promises of savings on accommodation. 3. No commitment was made to honor the commitment by your sales agent to ensure at least your VHI fees will be paid out of the selling of my timeshare options. 4. I must continue to follow up with VHI agents to perform their service. Is that a service at all then. I look forward to an amicable way to dissolve our relationship as soon as I can financially afford it. Regards Morne Rabie

Dear Mr Rabie

Thank you for your response, please note that you were given detailed feedback on every one of your queries. You will have more options to choose from if you book in advance. One week before Easter will have a lot less options available than months before. This is because the other options are already booked by people who booked early.

Kind Regards
