Funding office is not aligned with faculties

My experience with UP has not been great to the extend that I feel the need to make other people aware. I app**** for a Master's degree in Strategic Communication Management. I also app**** for NRF Masters funding. My nightmare began when the funding person told me that my application would be rejected if I did not have a letter from a supervisor or faculty stating who my supervisor was. At this time I had not received the outcome of my application to study in the first place but when I called to ask the status of my application and requested this letter I was told to wait for the outcome first. I went back to the funding administrator and explained that the outcome has not been made yet. She told me that nothing could be done. My funding application was thus rejected on this ground in October. I only received the successful outcome of my Master's application in December. Such a trajedy. A university has an in-house NRF office but the office is not aligned with all facilities so that all applicants are given a fair chance. The worst part is I was an external applicant so I didn't even know anyone I could engage with to assist me. Losing the opportunity for funding means that the opportunity to study what I genuinely wanted to study is also lost. I am so heartbroken.
